2013 Large Market Radio Station of the Year – Thank You
Well folks you have spoken and named Kickin' Country the Large Market Radio Station of the Year. We feel honored and truly blessed.
It's the third year of the Texas Regional Radio & Music Awards show and also our third nomination for Large Market Radio Station of the Year. We brought home the bacon this year and couldn't be happier. Given the differences in populations in the various markets we were up against we were unsure how it would pan out this year. It all comes down to the music and you. This event is 100% listener/fan driven and we couldn't have been there without your support. First off, this year was more fun than last year and seemed to have more live performances. I'll be honest, when they announced we won station of the year I was so shocked and ecstatic. Backstage Larry Joe and Dave Perez said 'Calm down boy, you're shakin'.' They are good people. Not only did we bring home an award for you but Elizabeth Cook won Humanitarian of the Year award for her hard work and dedication to the Curing Cancer Music Fest. The biggest honor of all for Cheyenne and myself was presenting it to Elizabeth. There was a lot of happiness, shock and emotions during this award. I am so proud of Elizabeth and can't think of anybody who deserves it as much as she does. It was a great night.
After the awards show Cheyenne, Katelyn and myself headed to The Grease Monkey to meet up with a couple of the bands, DJs, promoters, booking agents and friends such at MsMaricle and MsChasidyG. There were burgers, beers and lots of fun. If you have a chance next year and want to make the trip it's a lot of fun and we will kick it after the show. I'm looking forward to the 2014 awards and bring more awards home to the Concho Valley where they belong. Since we won station of the year I'll be giving away a prize an hour Tuesday along with tickets for the concerts this weekend. Tune in and win. On behalf of the Kickin' Country family, thank you very much for all your support. We couldn't do it without you!
