50 Shades of Grey: Why such an uproar?

Most people I know have read a love story novel at some point and time in their life. With that being said I have been in the dark with the release of "50 Shades of Grey" by E.L. James.

So tell me what is the stir about? I know just from reading a few blogs here and there that the book seems to take a bit more of a open appeal to the sexual side of the novels and that it has sky rocketed in sales and hit over 2 million copies sold with in the first 4 weeks of being released.

Now my curiosity is starting to run wild and I want to know if you have read the book and what your thoughts are on it. Is this book too far out there for you or is it something you like?
