Angelo State University’s College of Graduate Studies has been named one of the Top 50 Online Graduate Programs in the U.S. for the 2012-13 academic year by GraduatePrograms.com, an online guide that recognizes higher education graduate programs, based on student evaluations.
Overall, ASU’s graduate program is ranked No. 18 and is joined on the Top 50 list by programs at four other Texas universities.  Programs are ranked utilizing ratings and reviews posted on GraduatePrograms.com by more than 15,000 students enrolled in over 500 different online graduate programs.  Students rate their respective programs using a 10-star system, with one being the worst and 10 the best.  ASU’s average ranking is 8.72 stars.

“Angelo State always ranks highly when student feedback is factored into an overall ratings system,” said ASU President Brian J. May.  “Student reviews also play a critical role in formulating The Princeton Review’s annual ‘Top Colleges’ list, which ASU has been named to for five consecutive years.”

“The GraduatePrograms.com ranking is also a further testament to the quality of our graduate program,” May added, “which has posted new record enrollments for eight straight long semesters and now includes nearly 1,000 students.  Many of those students are enrolled in our online programs.”

Graduate Programs.com assigns 15 ranking categories to each graduate program at each graduate school.  Rankings cover a variety of student topics, such as academic competitiveness, career support, financial aid and quality of network.  For a given graduate program, rankings are determined by calculating the average score for each program based on the 15 ranking categories.

ASU offers online graduate degree programs in border security, business administration, criminal justice, curriculum and instruction, education, nursing, psychology and security studies.

The other Texas institutions on the Top 50 list are Lamar University, Texas A&M University, Sam Houston State University and Stephen F. Austin State University.

GraduatePrograms.com is funded by the non-profit Graduate Programs Foundation, which also dispenses scholarships to select students who participate in its Rate and Review program.  More information and a list of the Top 50 Online Graduate Programs are available at www.graduateprograms.com/.
