Angelo State University’s Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band will present a joint spring concert this Thursday on the steps between the Carr Education-Fine Arts Building and the Houston Harte University Center, 1910 Rosemont Drive.
The concert will begin at 6 p.m. and is open free to the public.  The Symphonic Band will play John Philip Sousa’s “Manhattan Beach March,” Elliot Del Borgo’s “Festa!” and Aaron Copland’s “Down a Country Lane,” as well as James Christensen’s “Broadway Journey!” with narration by Dr. Daniel McCloud, ASU director of bands.  The Symphonic Band is directed by Dr. Constance Kelley, assistant professor of music and assistant director of bands.

Under McCloud’s direction, the Wind Ensemble will present “To Dance in the Secret Garden” by Robert Smith, “Lux Aurumque” by Eric Whitacre, and Henry De Costa’s “Tuba Tiger Rag,”  featuring music major Steven Key.  Also on the program are Sousa’s “King Cotton March,” “Storm Dance” featuring Dr. Jeff Womack, associate professor of music, on oboe; and “The Drum Major’s Daughter” by Jacques Offenbach.
