The Fire Marshals Office Tips For Holiday Cooking

1. Check your smoke detectors, they give you the few seconds of notification that could possibly saver your life.

2. Stay in the kitchen while cooking and do not leave appliances unattended. If you must leave the kitchen turn off all cooking appliances.

3. If you are simmering, baking, boiling, or roasting food check it regularly, stay in the home while cooking and use timing devices to remind you that food is cooking.

The United States Fire Administration and the National Fire Protection Agency remind every everyone that 1. Cooking is the leading cause of home fires on Thanksgiving Day and 2. Fires on Thanksgiving Day cause more property damage and claim more lives than fires on any other day.

Be Safe and Happy Holidays.
