Most drivers know, or should know that Texas law requires everybody in a vehicle to be buckled up, and that includes back seat passengers as well. If you choose to ignore this law, you can face paying a ticket with fines up to $200.00 plus court costs.

According to TxDot, in 2014 there were almost 2,600 motor vehicle traffic crashes in Texas alone in which unrestrained vehicle occupants sustained fatal or serious injuries.

Therefore, Police officers, DPS Troupers, Sheriff's department officers, and other Law enforcement agencies throughout Texas will be looking for people who aren't buckled up with a special and costly message during this period when they will be especially mindful of checking to see if you have your seatbelt on or not.

Remember that it's not just during this period that they are watching, its 365 days a year because it's the Law.

Just a friendly reminder to Click It or Ticket!
