Cody Johnson took a different approach to celebrating Memorial Day this year... Here’s how he explained it:...'Ever since the birth of my oldest daughter, I’ve made it a goal as a father to make sure my children know the true meaning of our holidays. For instance, even though Santa “visits every Christmas”, we make sure that we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus. The same goes for Easter; it’s not all about the bunny. My wife and I have even decided that when they’re old enough, that we are going to take our kids to spend a Thanksgiving cooking for, and feeding other people who may not be as fortunate as we are. (instead of enjoying it all for ourselves) However, today was the first #MemorialDay in my entire life that I felt like I celebrated in a way that honors our fallen, instead of doing my normal thing, which usually involves some cold beer, a boat, a lake, and a fishing pole! (there’s nothing wrong with that btw).'

Cody goes on to say 'I’ve been working out regularly at Crossfit Hville with my close friend Doug Champion for almost a year and a half now, and I’ve always heard them talk about “The Murph”.
Run 1 Mile,100 pull ups, 200 push ups, 300 air squats, then run another Mile.
I felt convicted this year to find out what it was all about, and I’m SO THANKFUL that I did. I finished in 60 min! It was tough, but it’s supposed to be. It requires you to dig deep and to think about how deep our fallen brothers and sisters had to dig, in order to preserve the freedom that we so often take for granted. This Memorial Day I challenge you to remember what it’s for, and thank a veteran, pray for the families of those that gave their lives for the rest of us, say the pledge of allegiance with your children, or simply take a few minutes to pray for the condition of our nation…

Thanks to Doug Champion and everyone at CrossFit Hville for changing my life in such a positive way! God Bless America -CoJo

Thanks Cody for sharing your story with everyone. That's awesome!!
