Community Band Silver Anniversary Concert
Mayor Dwain Morrison will guest-conduct the San Angelo Community Band’s Silver Anniversary Grand Finale Concert on Aug. 4 when he leads the local musicians in John Philip Sousa’s famous “Washington Post” March.
The concert begins at 7 p.m. in Sierra Vista United Methodist Church’s Life Center at 4522 College Hills Blvd. Admission is free.
- Angelo State University Professor Emeritus Harris Brinson, the band’s founder and a former director, conducting his favorite piece, Gustav Holst’s “Suite No. 1 in E-flat for Military Band.”
- The Twin Mountain Tonesmen singing “By the Light of the Silvery Moon.”
- The instrumental duet “Side Partners” played on a euphonium and a flugelhorn.
- The premiere performance of “The Pearl of the Concho,” a piece commissioned exclusively for the band’s 25th anniversary.
