The 50th Annual Concho Valley Pecan Show will be held this Thursday, December 4th and Friday, December 5th.

Processing of the 2014 Concho Valley Pecan Show will begin at 8:30 a.m. on December 4th in the Extension office, and judging will follow. The following day, December 5th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m, the pecans will be on display at the Stephens Central Library, located at 33 W. Beauregard. Persons interested in learning more about the pecan varieties and discussing pecans with other growers are invited to assist in processing the show. For more information, call Allison Watkins at (325) 659-6528.

Any pecan grower in the area, whether commercial or landscape, is invited to submit entries to the show – including Tom Green, Coke, Concho, Irion, McCulloch, Runnels, Schleicher and Sterling counties.

The current pecan show program plays a very important role for the Texas pecan industry by teaching growers how to grade their pecans for better prices, identifying the most outstanding varieties for each region of the state, recognizing and awarding the most successful pecan management programs in the county, region and state, and advertising and promoting Texas premium quality pecans.
