Dale Earnhardt Jr. is one of NASCAR'S biggest names and most successful racers on the circuit. Earnhardt has announced that he is retiring at the end of the 2017 season!...

The 42-year-old was unable to drive for half the 2016 season due a concussion from a crash. Since then, not only has he opened up about his rehabilitation, but is active in campaigning to make NASCAR a safer sport.

Earnhardt began his career in 1999 joining what could probably best be described as the family business. His father, Dale Earnhardt, had already been a legend in the sport for years as one of the biggest names ever in NASCAR . Earnhardt Jr had only been racing for 3 years when his father tragically died during the final lap of the 2001 Daytona 500. Earnhardt Jr. returned to Daytona International Speedway where he won, dedicating the race to his dad during an emotional trip to Victory Lane.

It’s unclear what Dale plans to do during his retirement. One thing is for sure. He and his father will always be remembered as two of the most successful racers and influential figures ever in NASCAR racing!
