San Angelo is truly amazing when it comes to helping people in need. Each year we see many examples of the people of West Texas reaching out to help as many people as they can from all walks of life. This time it's now different. Read on to see how the San Angelo D.E.S.K was formed, and what it does for the children on the Concho Valley,

"D.E.S.K. began it’s mission in 2004 when Eric Wilson asked the San Angelo Independent School District if there were children who did not have all the necessary school supplies at the beginning of each school year. There was, and is, a definite need, and D.E.S.K. (Donate Educational Supplies for Kids) was formed. Each year since then, D.E.S.K. Volunteers have worked tirelessly to secure monetary donations and donations of school supplies to meet this need.

D.E.S.K. has an annual golf tournament and food booths at various events & functions to raise money. Volunteers from the Key Club, Angelo State University, Lions Clubs, Goodfellow Air Force Base, and other civic organizations have helped during the School Supply Drives that take place each Fall.Due to the generosity of our sponsors and volunteers, D.E.S.K. has raised over $473,000.00 since 2004 to help make sure that every child has all the supplies they need to have a successful school year.

When D.E.S.K. was formed, only elementary school children were assisted. Since 2007, this program has been expanded to assist children in all grades. The D.E.S.K. motto is: “No Child Deserves An Empty Desk”. Thanks to everyone who has helped make this mission a success for each child in the San Angelo Independent School District."
