Thanks to technology, a good chunk of the population can do their jobs at home if need be.

Likewise, when most workers go on vacation they are just a smartphone away from being back at the office — and thus not really on vacation.

However, according to a Robert Half Management Resource survey of executives, the trend is actually moving away from work-infused holidays. Fifty-one percent of those surveyed don’t check in with the office at all while enjoying their off days, whereas only 26 percent resisted that urge in 2010.

The survey also found that only eight percent check in multiple times a day while vacationing, down from the 18 percent who did two years ago.
