Josh Abbott has a Special Date for the ACM’s Sunday

Four weeks ago, Josh Abbott lost his dad when he fell ill and died on March 2nd. Of course that meant his mother also lost her husband. Josh is doing something very special for his mom....

He’s taking her to Las Vegas as his date for the ACM Awards. Josh took his mom, Lynnette, shopping with him and she thought he was getting something he needed for a meeting he had.

At the right moment, Abbott turned his camera phone on her and revealed his true intentions: They were going dress shopping! Lynnette was overwhelmed by the news, and certainly excited.

The 2017 ACM Awards are this Sunday, April 2nd and will air at 7pm Central time on CBS.

Even though The Josh Abbott Band is not nominated for any awards, they will be in attendance.

The band has just resumed playing concerts since the death.

We already know that Josh Abbott is an awesome singer/songwriter. Having lost his dad, we also learned what a great man and son Josh is. Through social media, Josh kept us updated as to his dad's status after suffering a stroke. He posted pictures and stories about his family... and when David passed away, Josh gave him a wonderful tribute.

In addition to Josh, David leaves behind his wife and son Chance.  Josh Abbott penned the obituary where fans found out that David was able to live out a dream of holding a granddaughter, as Chance and his wife gave birth to a baby girl in January.
