In the time it takes you to read this, an MMA fighter started and finished a fight.

Josh Jones knocked out Anthony Spires during NEF 29: Stars and Stripes last weekend in Lewiston, Maine.

Never has the phrase "it was over before it started" been more appropriate.

Here are some other things that don't take four seconds to do:

  • slip on one glove
  • climb into the cage
  • raise your hands when introduced to the crowd
  • say "MMA" -- half a dozen times

You think about all the training a fighter goes through and then you see this and you have to believe that it paid off for Jones. As for Spires? Well, if he can only last four seconds, perhaps he ought to consider another line of work.
