A National Weather Service forecaster issued an apology in a series of tweets for the off-the-mark prediction of 20 to 30 inches of snow in New York City, which left city officials with egg on their face for practically shutting down the city even though the blizzard just glanced the metropolis.

Meteorologist Gary Szatkowski tweeted about his “big forecast miss” with a number of tweets including his "deepest apologies."
