The Josh Abbott Band was set to perform at the 2016 Hot Pepper Festival in Palestine, Texas, but the decision to book the band was scuttled when members of the Palestine City Council said they were not familiar with the band.

The decision of the Josh Abbott band not to headline the Hot Pepper Festival came after the Palestine City Council earlier this week chose to get more information before agreeing to pay the band $25,000 to perform.

Last year, Craig Wayne Boyd was hired to be the headliner for the festival at a cost of $18,500, and councilman Joseph Thompson said he knew who Boyd is.

“It scares me to know this band is $7,000 more than last year, and I knew the guy back then,” Thompson said. “I don't know this guy.”

Another member of the council indicated she had no knowledge of the band:

Councilwoman Vickey Chivers also had never heard of the Josh Abbott Band.

So what do you think Concho Valley? What if the Josh Abbott Band were to play in San Angelo? Do you think the city council here know who they are? Leave us your opinion in the below comment section.
