Fire Marshals, Fire Fighters and local agencies are teaming up to help install 180 smoke detectors into homes of low income and elderly folks here in the Concho Valley.

The San Angelo Fire Marshals Office is working with Meals for the Elderly, the City of San Angelo’s Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program, Angels Home Health Services and Shannon Home Health Services to identify qualified individuals for the program. Participants must own their homes. San Angeloans who meet the criteria but are not served by one of the agencies should call Karla Steppe at the Fire Marshal’s Office at (325) 657-4358.

This is the eighth year that the smoke detector campaign has been going on state wide and this year alone the program donated 1,400 fire alarms to 13 Texas cities.
