At approximately 3:17 am on November 26, 2014, San Angelo Police were dispatched to the 4400 block of West Loop 306 in reference to a major motor vehicle accident. Upon arrival officers located a single motorcycle rider who had crashed into the guardrail barrier and cable separator.  The rider, identified as Jack Lee Motes was deceased at the scene.  Next of kin have been notified.  Tom Green County Sheriff’s Deputies assisted in this investigation as well as the Tom Green County Crisis Intervention Unit.

Witnesses indicate that Motes was traveling Westbound on Loop 306, drifted off the left of the roadway, striking the guardrail before bouncing into the cable separator barrier.  Motes was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and speed is thought to be a contributing factor.
