The 88th Rock Springs’ 4th of July Celebration is this Friday and Saturday, June 30th and July 1st. Enjoy the Slick Rock PBR Bull riding challenge, mutton bustin’, junior bull riding, parade, goat cook-off, games, and music from Jake Hooker along with ‘Back in Black’ – an AC/DC Tribute Band. The 12th annual Rowena Lions Club ‘Meet You at the Square’ Barbeque cookoff will be this Saturday, July 1st in downtown Rowena. You can cook brisket, ribs, chicken and beans for trophies and cash prizes. There’s a margarita contest, washer pitching, kid’s parade at 11am, and more. Downtown Movie Night is this Friday and features ‘Minions’. It’s free and you are invited to bring your lawn chair or blanket and enjoy the show which begins at 9:15. Concessions will be available in the parking lot at 17 E. Twohig, across from the Cactus Hotel.
The Concho Valley Farmers Market is open on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Vendors, who come from a 75-mile radius around San Angelo, will be offering locally grown and seasonal fruits, vegetables and plants from 7 a.m. until they sell out. The farmers market gathers under the pavilion at 609 S. Oakes St. across from Fort Concho. For more information, call 245-3338.
The 1st Saturday of very month The Chicken Farm Art Center of San Angelo hosts a monthly celebration of art, music, and community from 10 am – 5 pm! There will be artist & vendors with unique works and gifts, a live music circle hosted by the Chicken Pickers, great food, and clay for the kids to play. It’s good family fun for everyone!.
