San Angelo Police K9 Service Dog Snoop locates suspect after a two and a half hour search this morning.
Just before 1:00 a.m. Friday morning, San Angelo Sector 3 Patrol Officers attempted to contact two suspicious subjects who were walking illegally in the roadway near the intersection of S. Park and W. Beauregard.  As the officers approached the two male subjects in an attempt to identify them, one of them ran away.  The officers called additional units to respond and a perimeter was quickly established.

Within minutes, K9 Team Officer B. Gesch and Police Service Dog Snoop arrived to assist with the search.  Snoop obtained a scent and tracked the fleeing suspect to the backyard of an abandoned house located in the 1000 block of Colorado Street.  Once inside the yard, police located items of clothing they believed were discarded by the suspect.   While inside the yard, Snoop began to show interest in an area of a garage located to the south of the residence.  Police conducted a search of the abandoned residence; however, the suspect was not located inside.  Before abandoning the search at the property, Officer Gesch and Snoop returned to the area near the garage where Snoop had previously shown an interest.  As they backed away from the structure, Eden was observed to be hiding on the roof.

Eden then fled from that location and jumped several fences to adjoining properties.  As officers expanded the perimeter, Snoop continued tracking Eden to the backyard of a residence in the 1200 block of Colorado Street where he was taken into custody.

The suspect was identified as Jerry N. Eden of San Angelo.  He was charged with Evading Arrest/Detention, Class B Criminal Trespass, and an outstanding County Warrant.  The second subject was identified as Nicholas S. Phillipus of San Angelo.  Phillipus was arrested for an outstanding County Warrant.  Eden and Phillipus were transported to the Tom Green County Jail without incident.
