Asheville, N.C.-based folk outfit the Resonant Rogues are premiering the music video for their new song “Long Way to Galway” exclusively for readers of The Boot. Click play above to watch.

In keeping with the band’s penchant for traveling off the beaten path, the Resonant Rogues’ Sparrow and Keith Smith wrote “Long Way to Galway” on a train between Budapest, Hungary, and Prague, Czech Republic, while the group was touring across Europe. During the trek, the duo traveled all the way from Istanbul, Turkey, to, as the song's title suggests, Galway, Ireland.

"That setting sounds very romantic," Sparrow tells The Boot, "but it was actually quite miserable ... because the air conditioner was broken, it was during a record heat wave, and we were pretty road weary."

The farcical "Long Way to Galway" video features the Resonant Rogues in their trademark old-fashioned attire, with Smith on guitar and Sparrow on banjo. They travel down a country road and cause trouble in a saloon with plenty of spaghetti.

“Making the video was a ridiculous amount of fun, [but it] also took a lot of hard work to pull it off,” Sparrow notes. “Our roommates played the donkey, and a bunch of friends came out to our favorite speakeasy bar to make the fight scene extra epic."

“Long Way to Galway” will appear on The Resonant Rogues’ newest album, titled Hands in the Dirt, due out on May 12. Visit TheResonantRogues.com for more information.
