I visited with one of the riders named Eric who has been on the trail since last weekend and this morning we talked about the journey on the 'Kickin' Wake-Up Call'.

This is the 13th year of the Santa Fe Trail Ride which is a 103 mile ride from Knight Canyon Ranch between Sterling City and Robert Lee to San Angelo.

Eric said they had riders participating from all over the country again this year. I asked him if they encountered anything unusual this year and he told a brief story.

They actually pulled into town yesterday and have numerous activities they will be involved in now like a ride to Fort Concho, The Rodeo Parade, and more.

All of the money raised from the trail ride goes back to the San Angelo Stock Show & Rodeo Foundation, which awards students with scholarships. The ride contributes as much as $10,000 a year to the Rodeo Foundation.
