The Story Behind Willie’s Guitar

The look and sound of Trigger, Willie Nelson's beat-up, autograph-covered Martin N-20 acoustic, is just as recognizable as Willie himself.  And Rolling Stone has put together a documentary chronicling how Trigger has helped shape music history.

Willie tells Rolling Stone, he and Trigger are still around after all these years,

After five decades with his trusty companion, Nelson is still going strong. "I figure we'll give out about the same time," he says of the well-worn acoustic. "We're both pretty old, got a few scars here and there, but we still manage to make a sound every now and then."

With so many signatures on his guitar, Willie was once asked how one can get their name on Trigger.  Willie's responded, "All you need is a pencil".
