We are just around the corner from Christmas...so once again this week, I would like to spotlight another Christmas Song for our Throwback Thursday.

Willie Nelson wrote 'Pretty Paper' many years ago when he was already a successful songwriter but a relatively unknown performer at the time.

It was first recorded by and a hit for Roy Orbison in 1963. Willie recorded his own version of the song in 1964 and it has been a Christmas standard for him every year since.

'Pretty Paper was also the title of Nelson's first Christmas Album released in 1979.

In addition to Willie Nelson and Roy Orbison, 'Pretty Paper' was also recorded by Randy Travis, Freddy Fender, Gene Watson, and other major performers.

We are proud to play Willie's version of the song on Kickin' Country 103.1. After all, he wrote it and his heart felt emotion for the story comes through so well as you watch the above video to Willie Nelson's 'Pretty Paper'.
