The news that Toby Keith has been diagnosed and is undergoing treatment for stomach cancer was  disclosed yesterday (Sun, June 12th) via social media.

Toby stated that "Last fall I was diagnosed with stomach cancer. I've spent the last 6 months receiving chemo, radiation and surgery. So far, so good. I need time to breathe, recover and relax. I am looking forward to spending this time with my family. But I will see the fans sooner than later. I can't wait. -T"

Toby Keith has been promoting the release of his most recent album "Peso in My Pocket" with an ongoing tour which of course has been put on hold for now.

Toby has released a dozen albums to date during his career, the latest of which is "Peso in My Pocket" which is Toby Keith's first studio album in six years.

Toby has had a string of hit albums and singles over the years along with having won numerous awards. If you're not already aware of it, Toby Keith, along with 9 others, was inducted into The Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame in November of last year at the 51st Anniversary Hall of Fame Gala. The event featured some of music's most talented artists performing hit songs from the inductees. Ronnie Dunn performed Keith's 1993 number one hit, "Should've Been A Cowboy," which became the most played country song of the 1990s.

Toby Keith is a pretty busy guy when he's up to speed. Not only is he a great American country music singer/songwriter, he is also a record producer, owns his own recording label and has done some acting as well.
