This day marks a huge day in history for seriously in my opinion one of the greatest musicians ever to grace Country Music. Willie Nelson on this day debuted on The Grand Ole Opry for the first time.

On November 28th, 1964 Mr. Willie Nelson made his debut on the Grand Ole Opry. This is a huge day in history and it was such a start for the genre that I'm so blessed to be a part of. If you don't know what the Grand Ole Opry is, it is a weekly Saturday night Country music radio program broadcast out of Nashville, Tennessee. The Grand Ole Opry is the longest running radio program in the United States and it has been broadcasting since November of 1925. Even though I wasn't even thought about at this point in time...well to be honest my mother wasn't even thought about when he made his debut, this is still one amazing day in history for Country Music.

Willie Nelson is in my opinion one of the key founders of "Outlaw Country." He is what I consider one of the founding Fathers of Texas Country. Willie and the Highway Men: Johnny Cash, Kris Kristofferson and Waylon Jennings were all huge starters of the Outlaw Country. Willie Nelson has had so many amazing hits that people all over the world love still to this day. One of my most favorite songs has to be "Blue Eyes Crying In The Rain." One of my life long goals even way before I became a DJ would be to meet the man himself. Willie Nelson is a legend himself and at the age of 79 he is still touring the world and wowing crowds as he has done for so many decades (almost six decades to be exact)! Today is one awesome day and I'm proud to be a part of this genre of Texas Country that so many amazing people have helped get to where the genre is now. Happy Anniversary Willie!
