I crossed paths with the Turnpike Troubadours in Artesia, New Mexico of all places this past weekend. I was there performing my usual duties as keyboardist for the Judson Cole Band. They were there performing their regular duties of, well, putting on a great show. As the band took the stage I quickly noticed a much darker beard holding the lead guitar (admittedly I wasn't wearing my glasses). As it turns out, the band was playing their first weekend without Ryan Engleman, their telecasting lead and steel guitar force. Ryan had suffered a broken wrist days prior, forcing him to slow down his picking long enough for a recovery. The group is currently touring with a substitute lead and steel guitar player. This comes just a couple weeks before the September 18th release of Turnpike's much awaited release of their new self-titled album.

A photo from the official Turnpike Facebook shows Ryan sporting his new fashion piece.
