We're just a couple of weeks away from the premiere of 'Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit,' and you can check out an extended look at the action thanks to this new clip courtesy of Paramount. In the footage (shown above), Ryan (Chris Pine) is shown to a pretty sweet hotel suite in Moscow by a man named Emree (Nonso Anozie from 'Game of Thrones'), but things quickly take a turn for the deadly, as they often do in the action-packed, high-stakes world of the 'Jack Ryan' series.

Chris Pine has some pretty big shoes to fill, as Ryan has previously been played by Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford and Ben Affleck. He's joined in 'Shadow Recruit' by co-stars Kevin Costner and Keira Knightley in Ryan's origin story, directed by Kenneth Branagh ('Thor'), who also co-stars in the film. In the above clip, you can watch Pine show off his action skills and encounter Costner, who plays the character of William Harper, a CIA veteran and mentor to Ryan.

Based on the character and stories by bestselling author Tom Clancy, the story follows Ryan in the present day as he fights to uncover a financial terrorist plot, which takes the young protagonist to Russia. The film was written by David Koepp, whose previous credits include 'Mission: Impossible' and 'Jurassic Park.'

'Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit' hits theaters on January 17.
