24 years ago today on February 2, 1993, Willie Nelson settled his tax feud with the Internal Revenue Service.

As part of the agreement, the IRS kept $3.6 million in assets it had already seized from Nelson and Willie was required to pay $5.4 million in penalties. Later it was discovered that Willie's accountants had not been paying his taxes for years.

The government held an auction for Nelson's assets and a lot of Willie's friends bought back his possessions. Willie also released 'The IRS Tapes: Who'll Buy My Memories?' to help pay his debt to the government.
