Thirty-three years ago today on July 11, 1983, Willie Nelson & Merle Haggard's album 'Pancho & Lefty' was certified gold. The album was recorded in November of 1982 and released in January of the next year.

The title track of the album was written by Townes Van Zandt. Although never confirmed, it is a widely held opinion that the 'Lefty' character in the song is a reference the notorious Old West gunfighter William H. Bonney, also known as Billy the Kid.

So what do you think Concho Valley? Do you think 'Lefty' is in fact Billy the Kid? And what do you think of Willie and Merle's accomplishment thirty-three years ago on this date? Sound off and let us know in the below comment section.
