John David Crow, former Texas A&M Heisman winning football player and athletic director, died Wednesday night at the age of 79. So far the cause of death has not been released to the public.

A native of Springhill, Louisiana, Crow is best known for playing for legendary coach Paul "Bear" Bryant' at Texas A&M and is the only Bryant coached player to win the Heisman Trophy. Crow beat out offensive lineman and future actor Alex Karras for the award in 1957. Crow returned to College Station, where he lived for the rest of his life, as associate athletic director at A&M from 1983-89 and took over as athletic director from 1989-93.

Recently, Crow was featured in an advertising campaign for the Heisman Trophy along with other Heisman winners including fellow Texas A&M former player Johnny Manziel. You can see the two of them in the video above.
