The Angelo State University Concert Chorale will present an evening of opera choruses this Tuesday, April 1, in the lobby of the Cactus Hotel, 36 E. Twohig Ave., in downtown San Angelo.
Titled “Opera Lite,” the concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. and is open free to the public.  The program will include “March of the Toreadors” from Bizet’s “Carmen,” “Song to the Moon” from Dvorak’s “Rusalka” and a short comic opera, “The Grasshopper.”

Also, soprano Janeene Williams, director of ASU’s opera music theatre program, will join the chorale for “Voyager’s Chorus” from Mozart’s “Idomeneo,” and ASU alumna Patti Wetzel will perform the coloratura aria “Una voce poco fa” from “The Barber of Seville” by Gioachino Rossini.  Dr. Scott Raines, ASU associate professor and resident baritone, will perform “Bring Him Home” from the musical “Les Misérables” and the opening solo from Aaron Copland’s “Stomp Your Foot.”

Accompanying the choir will be the Permian Basin String Quartet and members of the San Angelo Symphony.  The Concert Chorale is directed by Dr. Pamela Lee, professor of music and director of choral activities.
