Buckle Down and Stay Strapped In Survey Results
As a part of Buckle Down & Stay Strapped In, approximately 665 seat belt observations were conducted in San Angelo during the month of February.
Results indicate that the overall seat belt use rate is 94.9%. This is 4.2% higher than the state average of 90.7%, 7.9% higher than the national average of 87%, and 1.8% higher than San Angelo’s October baseline of 93.1%.
February’s surveys took place in five locations in the area. In addition to the general use rate data, findings showed the following:
Women – 95.8%
Men – 93.8%
Highest Age Group for Belt Use: 60 +
Lowest Age Group for Belt Use: <24
Highest Vehicle for Belt Use: Van
Lowest Vehicle for Belt Use: Pickup Truck

March results indicate that overall seat belt use rate is 95.3%. This is 4.6% higher than the state average of 90.7%, 8.3% higher than the national average of 87%, and 2.2% higher than San Angelo’s October baseline of 93.1%.
March’s surveys took place in five locations in the area. In addition to the general use rate data, findings showed the following:

Men – 94.8%
