In response to inquiries about what they can do to assist the tornado victims in Moore, Okla., the City of San Angelo is encouraging the public to consider making a monetary donation to American Red Cross Disaster Relief.
Both the City of Moore and the Red Cross have advised in statements that monetary donations are the best way to assist the recovery efforts.

“During times of disaster, financial contributions are the quickest way for the Red Cross to provide immediate assistance to those who need it the most,” said Janet Karcher, executive director of the American Red Cross West Central Texas Chapter in San Angelo. “Plus, financial donations allow us to be flexible in the help that we provide to ensure we can provide what people need most.”

Financial donations may be delivered or mailed to the American Red Cross at 17 S. Chadbourne St., Suite 102, San Angelo, TX 76903. Donations can also be taken over the phone by calling (325) 658-4409 or at the Red Cross’ secured website, www.redcross.org/donate. Donations of $10 can also be made by texting the word REDCROSS to 90999.

“We appreciate San Angeloans’ interest in helping our Oklahoma neighbors in their time of need,” City Manager Daniel Valenzuela said. “While our instincts might be to contribute food, bottled water and clothing, it’s clear that we as individuals can best help by contributing the financial resources to provide for those needs.”
