George Strait Helps Wounded Service Men and Women
Country superstar George Strait raised $1.1 million for wounded warriors earlier this month.
Strait hosted his sixth annual Vaqueros Del Mar Golf Tournament and Auction with his longtime friend Tom Cusick at Tapatio Springs Hill Country Resort at the beginning of November.
The event featured some notable celebrities, including PGA Tour champion Jordan Spieth and country singer Jamey Johnson just to name a couple.
After the tournament, Johnson and Strait played a concert followed by a live auction.
Proceeds from the event will go to Feherty’s Troops First Foundation, a nonprofit that benefits veterans who have been injured in combat. Rick Kell and former PGA golfer David Feherty founded the organization in 2008. Strait has partnered with the nonprofit to give back to wounded service men and women.
In 2016 they’ve raised more than $3.3 million.
