Happy 60th Birthday to Robert Earl Keen

Happy 60th Birthday today to legendary Texas singer/songwriter Robert Earl Keen. Robert got his start in the bars and honky-tonks in Houston. After that he would befriend his next door neighbor Lyle Lovett while they attended Texas A&M. In the 'Front Porch Song' from Robert's first live album, he jokes that he and Lyle used to perform bluegrass music in their underwear on Sunday's for church goers passing by their porch. And just this past year, Robert recorded his first bluegrass album entitle Happy Prisoner (It's not known if he recorded the album in his underwear). Happy birthday REK and here's to many more from all of us here at Kickin' Country 103.1.
