Intern Jackie went to see Cody Johnson at Midnight Rodeo and tells us about her experience!
To say that Cody Johnson is amazing is an understatement. I have been listening to the country singer from Huntsville for quite a while now and he never fails to impress me. I was excited when I logged onto the singers website and noticed that him and his band were making their way to San Angelo once again. This past Thursday, October 29th, I had the privilege of being a part of his show at midnight rodeo.

I was amazed at the amount of people packing the venue. Having seen Cody and his band before, it seemed that this was the longest the line had ever been. There were fans surrounding the stage and flowing out onto the dance floor because to get a good view of the band.

The minute I saw the band members run on stage, I quickly made my way through the crowd to get to the front. Although it was a struggle getting through the people, I managed to get a good spot.

The band opened up with one of their hit songs “Dance Her Home,” and at that moment everyone went wild. The crowd was singing along at the top of their lungs and everyone was into the song. Cody and his band played hits like “Me and My Kind,” “Lucky,” “Baby’s Blue,” and “Texas Kind of Way.” Throughout the performance each of the band members showcased their talents with their instruments and harmonics as they supported Cody’s lead vocals and guitar playing. The band also had a brand new lighting system that made the set vibrant and spiced up the show. After a wild hour of screaming at the top of my lungs and dancing to every single song, the band ended with an energetic cover of Chris Ledoux’s powerful “8 Second Ride.” Once the show was over, everyone rushed to the Cody Johnson merch table to purchase their hats, t-shirts, and albums.

I was so tired after the show, but so thrilled that I was able to watch Cody Johnson and his band play live once again. Each time, the show gets better and better, and the fan base is rapidly growing. I hope he makes his way back to San Angelo in the future, because I definitely will be getting my tickets as soon as they go on sale.
