The National Center for Children’s Illustrated Literature (NCCIL) is always hosting cool events the entire family can enjoy. On Tuesday, August 8, beginning at 6pm, the NCCIL will be hosting its very first "Family Fun Movie Night", and the best part is that it will be held inside the NCCIL.

While there are several family movie nights around west Texas, most are held in the great outdoors under the stars. This event will not be under the stars, but rather surrounded by the arts on display at the NCCIL.

Since it opened 25 years ago, the NCCIL has provided delightful, educational events that families can enjoy together, sharing common interests in art and literature. With school about to begin, this is the perfect opportunity for families to have a fun night together.

To be part of the NCCIL's Family Fun Movie Night, you'll need to register your family. Then come watch the 2006 film "Charlotte's Web" (rated G). Not only will guests get to sit and enjoy a classic movie on the big screen inside the art gallery, but all registrants will receive popcorn, snacks, and a family activity to do.

The  film choice was inspired by NCCIL illustrator Garth Williams who originally showcased his exhibit in Abilene in 2017 and is known for his picture book illustrations in Charlotte’s Web, Stuart Little, and the Little House series. Source: Kayla Young/NCCIL

Family registration is only $20 and includes every member of the family. NCCIL members may register for free. Annual NCCIL memberships start at just $65, and will get you and your family in for free to all Family Fun monthly events, including the artist workshop presentations.

To buy your tickets, learn more about the NCCIL, or find out about upcoming events, go to the NCCIL's website. See the "Charlotte's Web" film trailer below.
