Most Texans know and agree that family means more than anything else. Which is why it was so heartwarming to hear about a grandpa taking a nine-hour bus ride to see his granddaughter’s graduation ceremony in Texas.

A Graduation Day the Family Will Never Forget

According to NBCDFW, Andrea Morgan of Fort Worth earned her nursing degree from Texas Lutheran University. And her grandpa wasn’t going to miss it. We all know that graduating from college is a huge milestone and her family wanted to make sure that she knew she was supported.

Andrea earned her nursing degree and asked her mom to join her on stage at the pinning ceremony. The ceremony symbolizes the transition from nursing school to becoming a healthcare professional.

A 91-Year-Old Grandpa Made the Long Journey

But Andrea’s grandpa who is 91 years old also wanted to be there to support her. The only way for him to attend was a nine-hour bus ride from Chihuahua, Mexico. It was amazing to hear that her grandpa has never missed a milestone in her life and has shown her unconditional support and love. Andrea said, “It meant everything to have him there.”

Nursing is Andrea’s second degree and she’s excited about her new career. Her ultimate goal is to become a women’s health nurse practitioner.

A Reminder About the Importance of Family

While I think it’s impressive that Andrea has earned her degree, I am more impressed with her grandpa and the love he shares for his family. This is such a great reminder for all of us to be there for our family when they need us and when they are accomplishing big milestones in life.

Family means more than anything else.
