(KNUE-FM) We all know that Texas is a big, beautiful state with lots of natural beauty and lots of wildlife too.

But with so many animals making a home in Texas do you need to watch out for animal running across the road while you’re driving?

Yes, to be clear you need to watch out for animals every time you are behind the wheel, it doesn’t matter which state you’re driving in.

It only takes seconds for something to dash out in front of you and that is how quickly a situation can become very dangerous.

While you always need to pay attention, it’s not too bad here in Texas compared to many other states in the country.

As you will see below in the rankings, Texas is not even in the top half of states when it comes to your risk level of hitting an animal while you’re driving. Which is a good thing.

Animals are So Unpredictable

We’ve all heard of friends or family members who had a deer jump out in front of their vehicle. Just last year I was in the car when my wife accidentally hit an armadillo on the Interstate.

Things move quickly when you’re behind the wheel, just make sure you’re paying attention to keep you and your passengers safe.
