ABC Green Lights ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ West Texas Spinoff
Grey's Anatomy is over twenty years old and the show will be getting a new spinoff that will take place in a remote part of West Texas.
Grey's Anatomy has twenty two seasons and over 450 episodes. The show has also produced three other spinoffs. Those would be Private Practice, Station 19, and Grey's Anatomy B-Team. All of those spinoffs were set on the West Coast and all featured at least one character from the original Grey's Anatomy show. This new show is an all original cast and is taking Grey's Anatomy to Texas.
Details on New Grey's Anatomy in West Texas
So far, very little has been revealed, but the show is supposed to be coming in mid 2027. It will be taking place at a medical center in remote part of West Texas, they say "it's the last chance for care before miles of nowhere." The rumor according to Deadline is that the show will get at least nine episodes in the first season to start.
Native Texan Meg Marinis to be Show Runner for Texas Spinoff
Meg Marinis has worked on the original Grey's Anatomy, but also grew up in Houston. She graduated from The University of Texas at Austin. “I am incredibly excited to expand the Grey’s Anatomy universe,” Marinis said. “This opportunity will bring new characters and stories to life that will embody the same heart, emotion and connection audiences have loved from Grey’s for more than two decades — all set in my home state of Texas. I am so grateful to Shonda Rhimes for creating this dynamic world and feel so fortunate that I get to be a part of it.”
We will wait and see how this new show goes next year.
