A North Texas favorite was recently named the best independent gas station in the country. After reading up on it, I can’t believe I hadn’t heard of it before. However, I will make it a point to drive a little out of the way the next time I’m headed to the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.

Why Independent Gas Stations Still Matter

While I’m a big fan of some of the chain gas stations/convenience stores like Buc-ee's and Allsup’s, there’s just something about an independent gas station. They almost always have a rustic aesthetic, strong coffee, and some of the best road food on the planet. Have I mentioned that I love gas station food?
