LISTEN: Post Malone’s Next Country Collab is With Chris Stapleton
Post Malone is continuing his tour of country music and his newest collaboration is with one of the genre's biggest names — Chris Stapleton. The rapper turned country crooner took to social media to share a clip of the song, but stopped short of providing any real details about the song.
Check out some of the lyrics from the unreleased song below:
"She whispered pull it over, I said you're the boss / In a southern drawl said here's where I get off / I've enjoyed the time / She said baby give me one more kiss before I kiss your a-- goodbye," the two sing on the track.
"This one's with @chrisstapleton," is all he wrote in the caption. You can hear a teaser of Post's song with Stapleton below.
How Did Post Malone Get a Collab with Chris Stapleton?
Snagging a collaboration with Stapleton couldn't have been easy. Although he hasn't shared how their joint effort came to be, Carly Pearce has revealed what it took to get a time slot with the icon and her method was strategic to say the least.
"I think the best thing you can do is go to somebody's wife," Pearce told SiriusXM The Highway. "So I DM'd [Stapleton's wife] Morgane on Instagram, and I said, 'Hey, I know this is super weird, but I have this song that I really want Chris to hear. Do you mind if I send it?'"
She also shared that Morgane was very up front with her about how selective Stapleton can be with these requests. He must have really like Malone's idea for a song to sing on it.
Which Country Artists Has Post Malone Collaborated With?
Malone has stacked up quite a few collaborations so far in his country music foray. His first was with Morgan Wallen on "I Had Some Help" and then another called "Pour Me a Drink" featuring Blake Shelton. Both songs have already been released in their entirety.
In addition, he has teased a song with Luke Combs titled "Ain't Got a Guy for That."
Many fans are assuming these songs, along with "She Ain't Yours," "Never Love You Again" and "Drinkin' 'Bout You" will be on his country album. His F-1 Trillion project is set to arrive Aug. 16. He will also embark on a 21-date tour — named after the album — beginning Sept. 9.
