East Coast Artist’s Stunning Map of Texas Captivates Social Media
When you look at a map of a state, usually you see just lines of where the highways are & all the cities are located. However some people like to create some very unique maps of places that mean something to them. One artist, named Mario Zucca, in particular created a very well made map of the state of Texas & I think it's probably one of the best maps created of the state. But don't take my word for it; see for yourself.
Mario Zucca really put a lot of detail into this Texas map
Just looking at the whole photo, it's incredible just how many different icons, mascots, landmarks Mario included. You can definitely see that in these close ups of Dallas,
even El Paso has been given love too.
So who is Mario Zucca?
Well the man behind this map is not a Texan; but a Pennsylvania artist from Philadelphia. When I asked him what inspired to draw such a creative map of Texas, he actually did it as part of a request of a jigsaw puzzle company that he works with called Birdie Puzzles. If you've seen his past work on his social media, he's done maps of just separate cities (like Buffalo, Detroit, and a few from his home state of Pennsylvania like Pittsburgh & Philadelphia). So for him, he saw it as a challenge to do the whole state. Which he HAS visited before; that helped his inspiration for his art:
My first trip was more of a quick pass through the panhandle, but I did stop in Amarillo briefly. My 2nd & 3rd trips were, respectively, for grad school and to create some sidewalk chalk art at the Crayola Experience in Plano, TX. Both of those trips were predominantly in the DFW area, and some highlights included the Stockyards, Billy Bob's, the rodeo, spending time on the TCU campus, seeing Dealy Plaza, and checking out a Dallas Stars game. My 4th and most recent trip was last year. My wife and I did a road trip through New Mexico and decided to do some hiking in the Guadalupe Mts. We did pass through El Paso but only briefly on our way up to White Sands. I would love to visit again soon and spend more time now that I feel I know the city a bit better! - Mario Zucca
It's definitely has taken a liking by fans & fellow El Pasoans on Instagram; with people complimenting all the details he put into including of the smaller towns in Texas & for pointing many iconic & recognizable pieces of Texas history. We certainly appreciate Mario for his creativity & hard work in making what it's quickly becoming my favorite map of the state of Texas to date.
