Josh Abbott's heartache is good for country music. "Amnesia," the latest single from the Josh Abbott Band's Front Row Seat album, dives even deeper into the despair that comes after infidelity, divorce, etc ...

Abbott has been candid about events that led to the end of his marriage, and while he doesn't share details in "Amnesia," regret hangs on every lyric. He's a man looking for a quick fix for his tormented heart. He wants to wipe it all clean, throw the good times out with the bad and start over. The song is nothing if not believable.

There's a certain irony to Abbott and his band enjoying his greatest commercial success (his last single "Wasn't That Drunk" was his highest charter) on the back of such personal strife. Over and over again artists prove that great angst can lead to great art if that artist is brave enough to show a few scars. Abbott's willingness to share borders on recklessness.

Did You Know?: Josh Abbott Band were one of the first to recognize Kacey Musgraves' talents. She sang with them on a 2011 song called "Oh, Tonight."

Josh Abbott Band's "Amnesia" Lyrics:

"If I had amnesia / I wouldn't know how much I need ya / And I wouldn't have to see ya every night / When I turn out the lights and close my eyes / Wouldn't have to forget you / Or even know I'd ever met you / I wouldn't have to regret you / Or let you wreck me one more time."

"What I don't know wouldn't hurt me / If I could lose my memory / I think maybe I'd be fine if I just lost my mind / I wouldn't have to replace you / I could just erase you / And I wouldn't have to know how much I need ya / If I had amnesia."

"
Something stronger than tequila / A little pill that would lead you right outta my head / Gimme numb instead / If I went a little crazy / The movie got a little hazy / I wouldn't want you save me / Or maybe you can play me one more time."

"What I don't know wouldn't hurt me / If I could lose my memory / I think maybe I'd be fine if I just lost my mind / I wouldn't have to replace you / I could just erase you / And I wouldn't have to know how much I need ya."

"And if I woke up tomorrow / Wasn't thinking about yesterday / And you were just a stranger / It wouldn't kill me to watch you walk away."
