Since I've started here at Kickin' Country back in the beginning of August, I've had a lot of people come up to me and ask all about me. They ask about why I picked my major, well read more to find out.

As most of you know, I am a senior at Angelo State University getting my Bachelor's in Agricultural Business. I have people give me a weird face when I tell them what my major is, but my major is pretty dang cool. If anyone knows more than most about Agriculture, it has to be West Texas. Here in our side of the big state of Texas most of jobs revolve around Agriculture. Whether it has to do with buying meat at the grocery store, applying for a loan for land, or even choosing grass for your lawn, it all has to do with a business that is involved in Agriculture. I think it is pretty interesting to see how many jobs of Agriculture actually revolve around our daily life.

I might be a little biased when it comes to my program at Angelo State University, but probably because I've spent a ton of money and years studying the business itself. I am not going to lie but my major is very hands on when it comes to learning. If anyone knows us Ag students, they know that we just jump in our classes and labs. Not to knock any other major out there, but a lot of labs in college don't require you to go spend an afternoon Palpate cows or giving ultrasounds to Ewes. Yes, I've stuck my hand up a cow's behind to see if it was pregnant or not, pretty gruesome of a job but it is cool to actually feel a calf! It might not be the job out there for a lot of people but I definitely just had to give it up to people out there in the Ag industry that do stuff like that every day. Also, I have to thank the Agriculture department at Angelo State University for teaching me all I've learned in my time here in Angelo!
