Nathan Bell, ‘The Big Old American Dream’ [Exclusive Premiere]
Americana / folk singer-songwriter Nathan Bell is premiering his new song “The Big Old American Dream” exclusively for readers of The Boot. Press play below to listen.
"The Big Old American Dream" offers up a diverse look at the folks in small-town USA, ranging from a heavy-set veterinarian in love with a patent attorney-turned-rodeo clown to the proud owner of his very own mobile home. According to Bell, the song is about “real Americans, with no black-and-white oversimplification and no ‘us vs. them,' left / right posturing -- just beautiful, inclusive, somehow-vibrant shades of gray.”
A veteran songwriter, Bell has shared the stage with iconic artists such as Townes Van Zandt, Emmylou Harris and James McMurtry. Writing for the Bitter Southerner, music critic Holly Gleason describes Bell as “the Woody Guthrie we need in the age of globalization;" Bell's work has also been hailed by Paste, No Depression and a number of other outlets.
“The Big Old American Dream” is Bell’s latest single; it appears on his forthcoming album, 48 Hours in Traitorland, which is set for release on June 30. Visit Bell's official website for more information.
