In a press release on Friday, January 22nd, Rodeo Austin said it has canceled the ProRodeo, Carnival, Fair and BBQ events scheduled for March 2 021.

This is the second year in a row that Rodeo Austin has been impacted by the coronavirus, with events being canceled in March 2020 shortly after the first cases of COVID-19 began surfacing in Austin.

From Rodeo Austin:

Rodeo Austin said in their statement...”we are heartbroken to cancel the ProRodeo, Carnival, Fair and BBQ Austin events scheduled for this March, but the health and safety of our community is our greatest concern.”

Rodeo Austin said the arena and expo center are being utilized for the distribution of essential items in support of their community during the COVID-19 pandemic. Thus, they will only be hosting private youth competitions in March, including the Junior Livestock Show, Ag Mechanics Competition, Ultimate Scramble Championship and the Youth Auction:

"We are Rodeo Austin, a not-for-profit organization that provides real experiences and gritty fun to raise millions for Texas kids. Since 1938, we've been on a mission with a rodeo that has brought heritage and entertainment to our community. Rodeo Austin is a year-round non-profit organization funded by a month-long real western experience held every March. Rodeo-goers get to do things they can do nowhere else including a ProRodeo, one-of-a-kind concerts, carnival and a livestock show. All while raising millions for Texas kids."

Rodeo Austin said organizers are working closely with Public Officials to determine which events can be rescheduled for alternative dates in 2021.
