Police were dispatched to Turner’s residence around 9:40 p.m. Sunday night for the report of an unknown problem.  As Officers were enroute to the call, they learned Turner was alleged to be in front of the residence armed with a machete.

Upon arrival, Officers T. Tumlinson located Turner in the front yard.  Turner appeared agitated and began to approach Officer Tumlinson in an aggressive manner.  Turner refused several verbal commands to show his hands and to stop advancing towards Officer Tumlinson.  Upon disregarding a final order to stay back, Officer Tumlinson responded to Turner’s resistance by deploying his Department issued Taser at Turner, which had little effect.

K9 Officer J. Fincher arrived to the scene and observed Turner’s actions.  Officer Fincher then instructed Turner to comply with Officer’s commands or he would dispatch Police Service Dog Xander.  Turner soon complied and was taken into custody but later resisted the Officers’ search incident to his arrest.

During the field investigation, Police spoke with witnesses who said they observed Turner strike a woman on the head several times before they arrived.  Police located the victim, a 68-year-old female family member, inside the residence.  The woman told the Officers she believed Turner struck her on the head with a stick.  The victim was not seriously injured and she did not require medical treatment.

Police also spoke with a neighbor, a 20-year-old San Angelo man, who told them Turner confronted him in the front yard while holding what appeared to be a machete and threatened to chop him and his family up.
Turner was transported to the Tom Green County Jail where he was booked for the listed charges.

The Tom Green County Crisis Intervention Unit and Adult Protective Services were contacted due to the circumstances at the scene.  The machete was not located; however, Officers located and seized a hammer from the scene.
