The San Angelo Police Department will be honoring former Police Chief Tim Vasquez and former Assist Police Chief Jeff Fant with a retirement ceremony Thursday, July 28, 2016, at 4:00 p.m. at the McNease Convention Center.  The ceremony is open to the public.

Tim Vasquez began his career with the San Angelo Police Department at 19 years of age as a dispatcher.  As soon as he was eligible, he became an officer and advanced through the ranks.  During his tenure with the Department, he served in the Patrol Division, Criminal Investigations Division, and Community Services Division where he worked in the DARE/GREAT section, and in the K9 unit as a handler and the unit supervisor.

Former Chief Vasquez was elected Chief of Police in June of 2004 and re-elected in 2008 and 2012.  Vasquez received a B.S. in Organizational Leadership, graduating Magna Cum Laude from Mountain State University.  Former Chief Vasquez holds a Master Peace Officers license, has 3,034 TCLOLE training hours, is a graduate of the FBI Law Enforcement Executive Development Series Session 59, and is a graduate of Leadership San Angelo.

Jeff Fant began his career with the San Angelo Police Department in 1992 and served in the Patrol Division, Criminal Investigations Division, and Administration.  Fant promoted to Sergeant in January 1998, Lieutenant in 2005, and Assistant Chief in 2009.  Fant holds a Master Peace Officers license, is a graduate of FBI Law Enforcement Executive Development Series Session 235, has 3192 TCOLE training hours, and has Master of Business Administration, Management with a Bachelor of Business Administration from Angelo State University.  Fant is a certified Basic Instructor and Firearms Instructor.
